CB&Q "Burlington" info please

Does anyone know the interior color of the dining room, as built, in the CB&Q’s business car “Burlington?” It would either be Burlington Pink or a yellow tan.
This for an assignment.

Is there really a “Burlington Pink”?[xx(]

A lot of the interiors of Burlington’s post war Budd fleet had walls painted a dusty rose color that we always referred to as “Burlington Pink.” Some cars had contrasting teal upholsrty, the parlors had rust, red, tan, or brown chairs scattered in color throughout the car. It was well done.

SP had an interior version of pink interiors for the post war Sunset. So remarkable was the treatment that Better Homes and Gardens did a whole feature on interior design inspired by the train and its interior color.

While I don’t have an answer to your question, the Burlington Route Historical Society is a very good source for a lot of historical information about anything related to the Q. A one year membership in the BRHS is $30.00. You can mail a check made out to BRHS to P.O. BOX 456, La Grange, Illinois 60525. The quarterly Bulletin of the Burlington Route Historical Society is worth every penney for what you would spend to become a member.

Thanks for the suggestion but spending thirty bucks to get a question answered is not what I was hoping for. I’m familiar with the orginazation and I’m sure they are a fine group.
I do need to know what the Q’s dining car water pitchers looked like however.

I’ve looked through a dozen or so books I have about streamliners and passenger trains. Nothing.[sigh] See if you can get the assignment changed to something like the 20th Century Limited or the Super Chief.[;)]

Murphy,
Thanks for the helping hand. I bet you were scouring the same books I was. I can’t change the assignment, but I can fake the colors. But I’m betting on the yellow-tan. Can you answer the “water pitcher” question? I can’t remember if the Q used the streamlined version or the bell-bottomed style.

I am working on a Broadway Limited interior painting right now. I’d pay money to do a 20th Century interior. I’ve done the Suoer Cheif.

Afraid I can’t help you on the water picture question. Just pretend you’re UP, and imagine what a heritage picture would look like.[;)] If nobody can find a picture, how could anybody say your water pitcher is incorrect?[:)]

Does the “Burlington” still exist? Just an off the wall suggestion, but if it hasn’t been scrapped maybe a trace of the original paint could be found.
