Celebrities among us ?... (Off topic)

I don’t really think many of today celebrities have enough class to be model railroaders.

No, but they might call themselves Tracklayer (Mark), claim they live near Houston Texas and come up with a topic entitled Celebrities among us ?.. ([;)])

Read the Neil Young interview in Time today. He is part owner of Lionel, and has helped them in developing control systems for his sons, who have CP. It sounds like he enjoys trains, but it is from a different angle than most of the folks here, I think.

I’ve had my picture in the paper…and they print my letters to the editor all the time. Does that count?

I did a TV ad for my work, I had to model fixing some appliances, and then pretend to deliver a washing machine to my house. had a close up of me with a cheesy smile and a thumbs up.

They played it locally for a few months on all the major stations at prime time, people stopped me in the street and gave me the thumbs up and a smile.

Business boommed!!

See, see. What did I tell you guys. There is a celebrity among us…

Tracklayer

Uhhh. Well, You at least have to be on TV - but news papers are a good start…

Tracklayer

Yes it does cspmo. A lot of actors start out that way. Stick with it and be patient. You never know how life might turn out.

Tracklayer

You know it… If there’s anyone that can come up with the most off the wall, off topic subjects on the forum it’s me, or is it I ?. Anyway…

(Thanks Billba)

Tracklayer

Sure we do.
Tom [:p][:p]

I know Bill Gates is a train fan. He tends to model in 1:1 scale, though… hey, when you are THAT rich might as well go all the way…

Erik

First Grande, you’re nothin’ but a Hound Dog, but we still love you!

Did I stumble into the People Magazine forum by mistake???

Will … The King was seen in MacDonalds in Kalamazoo!

My son and I are in the local Telephone company’s DSL2+ commercial, although i have not even seen the commercial, I have been stopped and told that they have seen me on TV.

Its global too, as the commercial is on their website, so not only am I a local TV celeb, but an international one too.

heh, who am i trying to kid here, I’m just an average joe smuck who has his mug on TV

Kevin

Along with the afore mentioned Frank,Red and Gary. I know Michael Gross is a train fan.
The LHS I just went to is in the town where all the country music stars have their ranches. They have an after hours program so the stars and their kids can shop in peace. (said they have a few Tenn politicians that shop there too).Wouldn’t give up any names though.

Myself no, however my car’s web page has over 302,000+ hits…

Tyco-Your counter says 16,050 hits? I guess that would count as celeb status though.

Back in the 1950’s, there was a local TV show in Hartford, Connecticut called “Ranger Andy”. He was a guitar-playing guy who sang songs, had boyscouts and girlscouts on the show in the audience, showed cartoons etc. He was kind of like a local “Captain Kangaroo”.

I went on the show featuring my button collection. I dressed up in a suit (I was probably 11 years old) and explained all about button collecting to the audience and the height of the presentation was some civil war buttons I had.

Does this make me a celebrity?

I’m so glad I graduated to model railroading from button collecting. Buttons are pretty boring.

Same here, as well as I got some pictures printed in “The Shortline” mag, about a derailment. Plus I am currently running for President under the Welded Rail Party.

Chuck Norris owns a dude ranch not too far from where I live called Lone Wolf Ranch, and Clay Walker (the country music singer) lives just down the road from me. Does that count for anything ?..
