Cellphone ring tones

Can anyone direct me to a site to download train sounds for ring tones like train horns?

I dont know, interesting problem.

Maybe MR can open a side business specializing in these.

hello morri,

GE has 3 mp3 ringtones on their website to download

https://www.getransportation.com/general/AboutUs/downloads.asp

I have a steam locomotive whistle as a ring tone that came from Cingular…if that helps.

I don’t have the links, but I applied myself briefly to this question a couple of weeks back…I did a search on my home page, Yahoo, and typed “downloads, train whistle” and found many sites that offer them for a fee. They come in mp-3 format often, so if your phone can connect that way, you should be able to download the file and import it as a ring tone.

Would you please, if you pursue this, report back on your success and method?

Why would anyone want to annoy other humans by carrying around a phone so they can find out if there dry cleaning is ready or the pizza is being delivered,( or they are needed at the hospital to perfom open heart surgery) and have an loud ringing tone announce their phone is ringing? Please be considerate of others, only use the vibe cycle. Is it that important that others MUST know your phone is ringing???

In my work environment, the vibrate alone wont cut it…with locomotives and cars moving past me all the time, and the amount of ancillary vibration, mixed in with the high level of noise, I need both a loud, piercing tone and the vibrate feature.

In fact, I carry the phone in a shirt pocket now, because when it was on a belt clip, it got knocked off often, or I couldn’t tell when a call came in.

And no, I don’t just it just for dry cleaning or pizza delivery…I use it to talk to the trainmaster and the yardmaster because the radio is often too busy.

When my nephews were single and going out with groups of people, they would all coordinate their ringtones so everyone knew it was their phone ringing.

Cell phones are a status symbol. For many they are an extension of their ego…

I have a recoreder on my phone, so my ringtone is a GP30 bell with engine sounds from the portola RR museum. I used to have a Caltrain express passing at 70 mph.

I can get by with the vibrating “ring”–or the “stun” setting, as anyone who’s seen my reaction calls it.

Should it go to a more audible ring, it will play Chopin, thanks!

Way to go!!! [yeah]

All my customers have cell phones. One older fella puts his on vibrate, and always has it in his front shirt pocket. I didn’t know this, until the first time it rang (silently). He stopped talking in mid-sentence,his mouth dropped open, his eyes got really big, and he grabed his heart with his right hand. I thought he was having a heart attack, until he pulled out the phone and answered it.[(-D]

I have no imagination here, just the standard Cingular ring. Maybe when we get away from them and join Verizon, I’ll find a good appropriate ringtone.

Cell phone usage in public …don’t get me started! [:(!]

Thank goodness I’m retired and can play with my trains all day!

Cell phones …Bah and Humbug!!

Now, that felt good! [soapbox]

Remember, “vibe” isn’t always effective if you’re grossly engaged. Example: A while back I was working quickly stacking heavy boxes in my storage space at work. I later looked at my cell phone and noticed that I had missed two phone calls. Yet, the vibe mode was functioning perfectly.

I would like to hear the sound of a Nathan P5a horn going off from my cell. To me it’s far less annoying than many of the cells I hear going off with hip hop or heavy metal music at full blast.

Your point is well taken. Still, I am not so egocentric that I need, much less desire, that others should know a. that I am present; and b. that I have a cell phone…ringing or not. I merely would like to know that in a busy place, where other phones are ringing, mine is not among them. As a courteous person should, I do not use my phone in places where its use would not be welcomed. I have mine turned off 90% of the time, just to put it into perspective. But if I know I may be hailed and I am busy or in a lot of hubub, I should be alerted by a distinctive ring. This makes it pragmatic, not egocentric.

A feature that me and mine find useful is different ringtones for different callers. My son, for instance, has “You are always on my mind” on his phone for when his wife calls… Comes in handy for ignoring the phone if the boss calls…

Yep…I resemble that remark!

Our oldest son is a cell phone nut. He has a different ringtone, or music clip for each person that calls. One of the song clips he put in, was some God-awful(to my ears) pop song. As we drove home from a fooball game, he in his full marching band uniform, his phone rang. He couldn’t get the phone out of his pocket to answer it. With the many layers of clothes to filter the music, it sounded like a large dog, repeatedly sneezing in his pants.[:P]

One ring tone that did make me chuckle a bit was hearing a woman’s cell phone ring with the theme from: LAW & ORDER.

That was different.
