does anyone know where to look online besides ebay for extra centipede tenders the ones that were used on the 4-8-8-4 and 4-6-6-4?
Hi asta,
Mate, as far as I know ebay is about the only place you have to choose from. I’ve done a lot of searching for UP stuff in different places, but I haven’t come across any. Doesn’t mean they aren’t around though, so good luck.
Cheers,
Warren
Are you looking for brass…plastic…h.o…N
Have seen the plastic variety at several swapmeets ,Brass centipedes are almost impossible to find by themselves
Actually if you are in HO you are in luck. Con-Cor offers the old Monogram static model of the UP Big Boy as perhaps you know. http://con-cor.com/instock/hodeskit.htm
And Bowser offers a conversion kit for the tender to give it metel wheels and current pick up so it is a working model.

Bad news - ConCor’s all sold out & dosn’t know when will be back in![:(]
There is/was an all plastic display Big Boy, like 10 bucks or so like the 4-6-4 was, and Bowser made a retro kit to use it behind the Big Boy of theirs. I was lucky to find a brass one at a show, so mine is now extra…maybe I can still use it…or not…
Sorry to hear that. The Con Cor kit is that static $10 or so desk top Big Boy that another poster is talking about. I see a lot of the unbuilt kits at swap meets so I think a dedicated searcher could find some at reasonable prices. I was able to score a Rivarossi or AHM tender at a swap meet for $8. I didn’t need it but it seemed so reasonable … put another way, over the years I have spent a fortune saving money.

i am needing them in HO scaleand prefer plastic (cheaper price)… i have seen the big boy monogram model on ebay quite often and the tender the big boy uses is not much different the the one on the 4-6-6-4… with the conversion kit and the monogram model the tender can be a working unit on my layouy?
Yes the Monogram Big Boy Tender with the Bowser Electrification kit can be turned into a fucntioning HO scale tender quite easily.
Monogram first came out with the Big Boy about 1986.
It has since been released by Con-Cor under licence.
The model was re-relased two years ago under the Revell label and is the same kit.
Hope that helps in finding what you need.
