I’m interested in modeling one of the 2nd gen diesels leased to the CV by parent GTW. The CV roster lists them as GP-38AC’s. Is this merely an AC variant of the GP-38? I have been unable to find information on this locomotive. I can find few differences from a GP-38-2 in the photos I have (no little oval window on long hood, slightly different intake grills). Can anybody steer me in the right direction as far as what model I should start from and what details I might need to change? I currently own an Athearn GP-38-2 that I would use if the conversion isn’t too serious.
You are correct in that they just a AC variant. I don’t know if this will help you but there are some good photo’s on the Norfolk Southern Photo Archives of GP38AC’s. Keeping in mind that these ones are nearly all high-hoods. I’ll try to find out more on the CV ones for you!
