So now that the Maine Narrow Gauge is leaving the waterfront, and Amtrak’s present station is not on the right route, can we see rail service restored along the waterfront? Seems like a great idea that no one wants to seriously suggest, but it would be an excellent asset to the city.
Extend it to Saint John and Moncton NB! (pipe dream of mine)
Would love to see service even farther north

Would be nice if New Hampshire ponied up some bucks for the service. Yar! let them re-instate service to Northern Maine Junction and on to Montreal and Saint John, NB. The station at McAdam, NB is/was a jewel!

I thought Virginia had the upper hand on restoring service to Norfolk to break Amtrak’s decade of infamy of no new routes. But two new routes this year would be twice as nice.
I loved riding the Downeaster when I used to commute to Boston. So glad to see it expanding in ways that make sense!
what will the track speed be on this extension?
Maine expanding service , Vermont has passenger rail. New Hampshire recently turned down its tentative plans to take the MBTA into Concord. What a waste. Passenger rail infrastructure is the only way to overcome auto gridlock. Isn’t anyone listening up there in the Granite State? (Hey- you used to have fairly good B&M Service to Plymouth, White River and Conway- and that was well before gridlock was even a word).
