I was wondering if anybody knows if CGW’s Winston Tunnel is accessible today. I’ve read up on it and live in northern Illinois but I have never seen it, and does anyone know when the last train went through it?
Don’t know if anybody else has replied on this since its been so long but I was at the CGW depot museum in Elizabeth Il. the other day(10/13/01)and the guy there said it is on private property that is that is for sale.From the photos they have there it looks to be in pretty bad shape.Don’t know when the last train went through but CNW tore up the tracks in 1973.
