changing numbers.

in the photo below As you can see I have to locos with the same number. Is there a easy way for me to change this.

I’ve used ScaleCoat paint remover to get rid of cab numbers before, though you have to be very careful or it will go through the underlying paint. I usually put a little bit of the paint remover on a soft cloth or paper towel and gently rub at the numbers until they’re gone. Once that’s done you can apply new decals. I usually use Microscale.

Get some microscale SP decals, remove the last # on one of your engines (you may end up having to paint it over) and apply new decals

For box cars, I’ve converted 8’s to 3’s, 6’s or 9’s. by painting of part of a number. Sometimes a sharpie colored pen can be used. I’ve also used a white pen to covert a 2, 6 or 9 to an 8. Some times a 7 and 1 can be exchanged. Since the print is small, it isn’t noticeable, if you do a neat job. I had 5 or 6 box cars with the same number and had to do a lot of work on them. 0’s also can become 8’s. Since number’s on engines are larger, this process may not work well, unless you are very talented.

thanks guys Im going to the hobby shop tonight and get what I need. I will probably have to order the decals.

I either paint over with same color then decal or take a swrew driver and scracth off the number and then aplly decal

the easiest, imo, is try to exchange one of them with someone who has the same engine with different rd #. But how to get in touch with him?
