Nicely done and smoothly shot. 2 scene-stoppers for me: first is the little shed outside the lumberyard. It’s on its own plastic base sitting on the gravel. Second is the truck at the grade crossing without a driver. Love the crossing signals and the realistic speed.

Well done, both the modeling and the realistic action. Kudos also on the photography…Joe.

A nice looking layout, and the scenery and structures are well done. The owner’s layout room looks like fun, too. Best is the realistic, slow speed operation. The engineer is most adept with the throttle, and obviously the track and loco wheels are super clean. Does the loco have a keep-alive circuit? Good engine sound, too, and operational grade crossing signals are always a major plus.
Very nice work.

Interesting. Lots of ‘modeler’s license’ involved here. GP7’s and GP18’s were the normal power used. SW8 821 was actually a Missouri-Kansas Division unit. Nice to see a Rock Island inspired layout, despite the inaccuracies.

Great modeling. What brand decoder? What brand turnouts? How about a consist to multiply the sound? Simply outstanding.

Long live “The Rock”!!

Thank you all for your comments! Let me try to answer some of them; The decoder is a QSI Quantum and the turnouts are Micro Engineering code 83 and Shinohara code 70. I do paired unit lash ups for the main manifest trough trains and it really sounds awesome with both units growling away! The switcher is more for servicing Leighton Lumber and the Osky Branch out of Pella Yard with only 4-6 carloads a trip. Next comment; Sometimes, the fun of model railroading is to mix it up a bit and use different kinds of power on the line. I have GP38-2’s GP50’s and Alco units as well that run just fine and could be run on the actual line (as long as they’re 4 axle units). It may not be totally prototypical…but it’s ok! And finally; The base on the shed has been corrected so as not to see the seam, as well as the driverless truck. Thanks for the catches!
