Pleasant weather lately. Went to Duluth the other weekend (the drive up there is always depressing, seeing the trail that once was the CNW superior line. Especially at Gordon. But the destination makes it all worth it!) and visited LSRM for the umpteenth time. Railroad museums will never get old. And LSRM always has well-maintained displays. They’ve been restoring a BN caboose most recently, and are making great progress! Bravo to all the volunteers who are working so hard on that project for sure!
Next month I return to IRM for their Happy Holiday Railway. Went there for my birthday last year and had so much fun that I kept forgetting it was even my birthday! Can’t recommend it enough! I’ve been watching them prepare for the even via the live camera feeds they host on YouTube too. Pretty exciting stuff!
Good morning
Last warm day here in Nw Ohio? Had some overnight rain. Amtrak is showing delayed out of Chicago. Going to meet a friend in Bryan Ohio and see what goes by. Took brother to a follow up appointment in Columbus yesterday. We saw a friend that works for the I&O come out of the loop in Ottawa to follow a csx train south. The clinic is right by the C&O main going through Columbus and “THE” university. Here is one of many viaducts in town.Need to get stuff to go.

Amtrak 48 the eastbound lakeshore was the late(mechanical issues) train yesterday. It was the first time any of us there have seen it stop in Bryan in daylight. The dispatcher had to stop and put up blocks at the station so people could board the train. They were even talking about a recrew in Toledo. Here are pictures of the 48 and a work crew doing some work on the new station for Bryan. The platform is going to be higher and the station will have restrooms. The crew said they are going to button up the project for the winter and get back at it in spring. Need to run errands in town.

We had my daughter, her boyfriend and my local niece for Thanksgiving, with my younger son Facetiming us during brunch.
Daughter has two boyfriends?
Thanks for the heads up - now corrected. Having our son on a Facetime call is a fun example of how communication technology has changed in my lifetime.
Son and I haven’t done a “Black Friday” train session in a long time. We found out the Wheeling and Lake Erie was running employee
Christmas specials out of Brewster. So went over and watched. They also have a museum across from the “Brick”. It was a former crew Ymca. We are under a winter storm warning for tomorrow into Sunday. We do not have to go anywhere.

W&LE has been purchased by Fortress Investment.
What that means remains to be seen.

Matt and I did round 1 of shoveling last night. Just finished round 2. The plow guy made a visit as well. Mother nature going to open up the freezer this week. Waiting for daylight then will go check on my brother. There is a thread for trains under the tree. Here is an ornament I put on every year.

Went out trackside out on the 26th. I missed an ACE train, but managed to catch two Amtrak Capitol Corridor trains.
I can’t ever seem to find freight trains, haha. Maybe I just need to wait longer.
Varying levels of Snow are predicted today Baltimore and West across the State of Maryland.
The Brine trucks were active Monday afternoon prepping the roadways.
The prediction was varying snow.
The reality (in my location) is a lot of rain with the temperature at 33

The reality (in my location) is a lot of rain with the temperature at 33
And that’s why JoeKoh calls them “guessers”…
Just got done shoveling another 2 inches on top of the 10 inches we got on Saturday into Sunday. Three separate snow events so far, and ir is only the very beginning of December. Good grief!
Joe lives in an area where the ‘guessers’ are reasonably accurate.
Central Maryland is an a weather zone where the ‘miss’ can be a mile or 100 miles. When I went to bed the temperature was 27 F. My mid-sleep nature stop had the temperature at 32 F with no accumulation note on my rain gauge - but the driveway looked wet. Got up 0900 or so temperature of 33 F and nearly an inch showing on the rain gauge.
