The official start of Spring will be welcomed with the pitter patter of Wintery Mix - been snowing since 3 PM - too warm to accumulate in the streets, however the ground is being lightly covered.

Our winter ends on a bright, if cold, note. There was snow that briefly stuck yesterday, but it didn’t last long.

I heard NYC may be in for a bit of accumulation, depending on which weather model one looks at.

Two days of Outdoor Expo done - one to go, and someone else is covering it. Sunday is the FD chicken BBQ, and my attention will be focussed there.

Then I have to go to the outdoor expo and tear down our display…

Added Mookie’s state to the states I have driven in last week, her ShopKo now has toilet paper and Dixie Cup products. Only thing I hate about running out that way is that there is a whole lot of nothing out there, ran US 20 all the way back across Iowa, very boring… Next week, it’s Pennsylvania, probably for most of the week again, hope that the weather is nice…

Should’ve come back via US 30- at least you could’ve kept tabs on the UP Transcon for much of the drive.

Brian: Loaded in Sioux City, IA, straightest shot back to Green Bay was US 20 to Dubuque, then US 151 to Fond Du Lac. Much as I’d like to run US 30, way out of route for me…

Our spring starts today (very shortly!). Of course, it’s tomorrow in the Eastern Time Zone, so everybody’s correct.

Ah, yes. Spring is here - and we just had our first illegal burn call of the season.

A poem my mother taught me:

Spring is sprung,

The grass is riz,

The leaves have come upon the triz.

I wonder were the flowers is…

My grass hasn’t started to recover yet, but the tulips are starting to break through.

I learned: "Spring has sprung; the grass has riz; I wonder where my senses iz.

Also: “To ope their trunks the trees are never seen; how, then, do they put on their robes of green? They leave them out.”

Chicken barbeque is in the books. We were sold out by 1 PM. Now off to the outdoor show to wrap that up…

Went to the Scotty Farm in Swink to visit (get my scottie-fix) today. One of those guys comes home with us in a month (in the meantime, the back of my hand got chomped -on by three teething pups)…Seven pups playing tug-o-war with a piece of rope is a riot to watch and listen to.

Puppy teeth = one of the sharpest substances known to man…

Cold this AM (+16F), but at least it’s not snowing like on the coast. In fact, the sun is shining brightly!

My Dad’s favrourite highway sign:

Spring
Has sprung
The grass has riz
Where last year’s
Careless drivers is
Burma-Shave

Don’t pass

Upon a slope

Unless you have

A periscope

BURMA SHAVE

That being said, it was officially a mild winter for me, the snow thrower sat in the garage all winted.

Speaking of weather, fall ended here a couple of weeks ago. The last of the leaves fell off the trees–I think they were pushed off by the buds of the new leaves coming out. (Very mild winter.)

Spring got us, though. We’re OK here, but about four weeks ago we had thirteen tornados and two waterspouts within a 100 mile radius, then last week, a bunch of floods. Maybe an earthquake next week?

Spring has sprung, Fall has fell, Summer’s here and it’s hotter than usual.

Predicting 70 degrees tomorrow in central Iowa. Thunderstorms for Wednesday. Because of that, they are postponing the state Severe Weather drill scheduled for Wednesday until Thursday. Snow forcast beginning late Wednesday into Thursday with watches in place for northern Iowa.

I did go back to the extra board last week. Had to make a few refresher trips. Went from working every two plus days to working every day. Now I’m off for the Federal Requirement for 72 hours.

After a FB report from my daughter and a report by a fellow ham operator of snow in the area, I saw some flurries on the way home from a meeting tonight.

But this is spring in the north country. We’ve had some pretty nasty winter storms in April.

Next come the locusts.
