Got my second vaccine dose yesterday morning at the Petco Park site (about two blocks from the storage yards for the SD Trolley). Had a good time chatting with the guy giving me the shot, as he was impressed that I knew what an anaphylactic reaction was. Side effects started off with a sore shoulder a few hours after the injection, and today I felt like I was fighting a viral infection (which, in effect, I was).

Also noted that progress is being made on the UCSD/UTC extension, with catenary looking complete on the extreme north end of the line and partially installed south of UCSD.

A little ditty I got from my dear, late mother:

"Spring is sprung,

The grass is riz,

The leaves have come

Upon the triz.

I wonder where the flowers iz?"

Happy birthday, Stacey! Hope it’s a great day by the rock pile!

It be SPRING. I had no reaction to the vaccine at all, been 6 weeks.

Evening

You must have gotten yours about the same time I did.

Alas - more reasons are “popping up” that suggest we wasted our time. Might want to ask for masks for Christmas…

On the fire front - it’s grass fire season. Despite a 5+ year old springtime burn ban in NY, people still seem not to know the ban exists. My department was out mutual aid for a 5+ acre brush fire on Sunday.

I have a Michigan county “fire wire” on my FB feed - they’ve had a number of grass/brush fires in the past few days. And then people are unhappy because their barn/shed/house burns down as a result…

evening

Ns stack train still in the siding.Boxcar is empty awaiting pick up.(ns please move the train).Another westbound stack train came by after work.Departments around here have had several brush fire callls already.Guessers say we are in a light drought right now.Get my first shot tomorrow.Going to get cleaned up.

I had my first (of ten) radiation zaps today. If it gets rid of the pain in my lower left back, I’ll be happy, as the PSA count (my “marker”) had already been going down nicely.

I get my first COVID-19 vaccine shot tomorrow morning (right after the radiation), and Pat gets hers the following day.

Progress!

afternoon

Ns still has stack train and boxcar where they were yesterday.Saw an eastbound on Ns after work.Ran errands in town and saw a csx westbound Carl special.Got my first shot today.Chores to do.Also found out we need to give hugs.

Had radiation for my colon cancer 25 years ago.

5 days a week for 6 weeks

First 3 weeks I was wondering why Radiation had such a bad name, the last 3 weeks I found out.

Had my 1st Pfizer covid shot on Monday. Got diagnosed with a Urinary Tract Invection yesterday evening. Woke up about 0430 with what I percieve as digestive tract upset - couldn’t get back to sleep and felt like the triggers for #1 & #2 were set to on despite both having relatively little to eliminate. Was able to take the first Antibiotic dose about 11 AM. Threw up a minimal amount 3 times between 8 AM and 2 PM. Things have gotten better as the afternoon continued. Hope the improvement continues.

I finished my COVID series almost two months ago. Health care workers (including EMT’s) got in on the ground floor.

I have been out on several potential COVID calls.

On other fronts, finally got my front “bulb garden” mulched yesterday. Usually that’s a fall thing, so the two layers of newsprint have a chance to get well soaked so the tulips, etc., can push through. But we got .2" of rain today, so I’m hoping that will do the trick.

Ordered a new recliner today - the current one is over 10 years old and very tired.

Tomorrow it’s a couple of new tires. An expensive week…

I think we’ve got your expensive week beat. Got our shingles replaced today (lost two or three in last August’s derecho, and our insurance company only comped us for repair of those). Good crew, got both the house and the shed done in 10 hours. We didn’t like the color of the roof anyway…

Got you both beat…new bay window in front, and new vinyl siding all around. That will occur in the week after Easter.

Fifteen minutes into our tour of duty at the Peck House Museum, and we already had two stack trains. And I was just interrupted at that point by a manifest headed west …now I have stuff to check on. Three trains in 20 minutes…at that rate we could get 36 trains today (fat chance!).

Before breakfast this morning I got my first COVID-19 shot and my second dose of the radiation. Tomorrow I get to meet with the radiation oncologist, and Pat goes in for her first shot. I have to schedule Number 2 now.

Balt, I hope you’re feeling better today. I’ve only got two weeks’ worth of radiation this time, but most of my after-effects from the 36-dose Zapathon were felt after I was done and had traveled to California.

Went to the tire shop today - “The truck didn’t come in today.” Back tomorrow.

I put a new roof on several years ago - all steel - and painted the steel roof that was already in place. Aside from one section of porch roof that I still have the steel for, I don’t figure on having to touch that as long as I live here.

One thing about that steel - the snow slides right off.

When I got my first COVID shot, they scheduled me right then and there for the second.

That was what was done where I got my 1st Covid shot - 2nd shot is schedule for April 14.

Feel human today - started to feel better in the early evening yesterday.

afternoon

Tracks were clear.Ns still has a boxcar to pick up.Glad tomorrow is Friday.Guessers say batten down the hatches for tonight.March came in like a lamb.
