Nice sunshine today. Went down to brothers to give him some birthday cupcakes. Saw an eastbound Ns stack train at Leipsic. Then went up to Deshler to work on outside cleanup. Had plenty of traffic to watch. Came home and the swamp was dry so got the first mowing done here at home. Time for a late supper.

In Leeds (U.K.) last week on a look around before travelling the Settle Carlisle Line.
Saw this Class 333
I went into the Dark Arches underneath the station. The River Aire flows underneath
When I lived in Leeds the Dark Arches was a place not to go to. People would lose their way in the darkness… Part of it has been renovated etc.

Life’s Railway to Heaven song written 1890. Minus chorus
Life is like a mountain railway, With an engineer that’s brave; We must make the run successful, from the cradle to the grave; Watch the curves, the fills, the tunnels; Never faulter, never fail; Keep your hand on the throttle, And your eyes upon the rail…
You will roll up grades of trial; you will cross the bridge of strife; see that God is your conductor on this lightning train of life; always mindful of obstructions, do your duty, never fail;
Keep your hand on the throttle And …….
You will often find obstructions, look for storms wind and rain; On a fill or curve or trestle They will almost ditch your train; Put your trust in Jesus, never falter or fail;
Keep your hand……
As you roll across the trestle, spanning Jordan’s swelling tide; You behold Union Depot Into which your train will glide; There you’ll meet the superintendent, God, the father, God the son; with the joyous plaudit. Weary pilgrim, welcome home
Regards all, mike. endmrw0418252142
Time flies. February I celebrated 10 years at my current company. Last year I completed one million safe miles, which is quite a feat considering the traffic out here nowadays…
Had a short week, doctor appointment today, will have a quick run to Green Bay tomorrow, not looking forward to that because of the NFL draft going on. The Georgia-Pacific mill is at the end of Lombardi Avenue…
Congrates on One million mile.
BTW: A friend (Walmart OTR driver) got his 1Mil award. The NEXT week he forgot, dolly down (nope) and drove from under the trailer all to heard a huge “THUD”. Kinda embarrising. regards mike endmrw0425251149
Good morning
Mother nature sent more rain last night. Going to check on my brother. Then going up to Deshler to work at the museum and park. Some farmers have been out in the fields. Need to do a few things here at home as well.

We got a few hundredth’s of an inch of rain today, enough to wet the streets for maybe an hour.
I’m very glad that I am not commuting to Santa Ana as I did in 2012-4 with the Surfline through San Clemente closed for major maintenance.
Went up to Deshler. Unfortunately the water line in the museum expanded farther than we thought(due to ice). We know what we need just need to get it. Going to go down to old hometown and take care of some stuff there. Thing about working in Deshler they allow train breaks. Here are some Ns units bringing a tanker train around the Sw wye to go south at Deshler.

and a UP led unit tanker
In conversation with a group loading something very tall on a trailer recently, I mentioned the Clinton Can opener. What are the specifications there on Clinton St. and I’m sure they are posted? endmrw0428250915
Reminds me of the good ol’ 11 foot 8 in Durham, NC. They raised it so now it’s technically the 11 foot 8 plus 8 but I really don’t like when they start renaming things.
In Durham, NC, do they have as many mishaps as the famous “Clinton Street” Can Opener? Of course “Durham” could be on a less traveled street than heavily (?) traveled “Clinton St.”
But Hey, One Inch difference would seemingly have the same number of “not paying attention” people driving there. Curious, Hello Durham? endmrw0429251138
They do get a lot of strikes there. It even got it’s own website when this one dude set up a video camera there recording it gobbling up truck roofs. The owner of the site also posts his videos on YouTube. Since 2008 about 186 trucks have hit it with the most recent being in August of 2024.
