I rediscovered my Athearn Pullman OBS car, and decided to make it a diner. What do you guys think I should name it?
Perhaps something rail themed would be good. āThe Porterās tableā or āThe Dining carā maybe?
evening
Gave hugs yesterday and today.Saw a few trains on csx and Ns.Csx is storing well cars in track 4 in Deshler and the siding in east Hamler. Still have projects to work on at the museum and park. We did get a model of the Deshler depot. It is at the museum. Time for supper.

Thereās a railroad bridge over the Onondaga Parkway in Syracuse. The road canāt be lowered because it would flood, and raising the railroad bridge would be very costly. So, despite heavy signage, the bridge catches several over-height trucks every year. So far, the bridge is undefeated as well.
Tragically, a double decker highway bus, whose driver made a wrong turn, hit the bridge several years ago, killing several on the bus.
Why arenāt there tell-tales before bridges like this? A modern version could have electronic sensing and flashing red lights to warn the drivers. True, they would cost money, but when you canāt afford to rebuild the whole interchangeā¦
You have the belief that operators of vehicles that exceed the limits of the bridge opening can actually read and understand the MULTIPLE warnings that are already in place for these ācan openerā clearance obstructions. - THEY DONāT KNOW THAT THE SIGNS APPLY TO THEM.
I agree 100% with what you say about most drivers. The warning signs donāt trigger a response in their brains, but I figure the sudden flashing red lights would wake them up.
The only thing that registers to them is the sudden deceleration and the sounds of tortured metal.
Some of them donāt even register that.
A physical tell-tale might sound like a good idea, but keep in mind that hitting it would be behind the cab of most trucks, so they probably wouldnāt notice it.
Lasers and flashing lights would probably be the best bet - IF theyāre paying attention.
With weather in the near future, and having a hot day last week - when I tried the AC last week the output temperature was 95 degrees. I had replaced the outdoor unit of my Heat Pump in 1994 and the Indoor unit came with the house when I bought it in 1990 and likely dated from sometime in the 1970ās - so I guess it was time.
Contractors team knocked on the door at 0700 and got right to the task at hand - tearing out the old and installing the new and finished up about 2 PM - just as the heavens open up with at 20 minute Tāstorm.

Not too much out of the ordinary on Csx yesterday in Deshler. Gave the picnic tables a coat of paint. Birds still find a way to make a nest in the shelter house. Going to go check on brother.
