Found kit at swap meet for $9 Gray primer, acrylic craft store paint, Signs from my collection, weathering from dry brush & powders. Some parts from scrap box.
Of all things about your model (and yes, IHC/AHM kits do clean up “real nice”), that ice machine detail - I had one like it decades ago, was it salvaged from a LifeLike 7-11 building kit?
I do not know where the Ice machine came from it was just in my parts box.
Hmm, the ice machine was an AHM offering. I’m pretty sure the 7-11 was LifeLike - here’s the kit listed on Tony Cook’s HO Resources site - the ice machine was part of the interior detailing (I still have some of the shelves and check-out counters, repurposed in other buildings), as can be seen in the instructions on that site.
Bizarre that your AHM box shows the ice machine and soda machines mounted ON the stations walls - such heavy/large items would normally be on the floor against a wall, at least in North American practice. And why would there be an ice machine at a rather small station anyway (you gotta love that AHM/IHC funkiness).
Love the gas station Tom!

Nice gas station, nice find for $9. Love your signs thread. Met you at the train show in Queeny Park.
Cheap plastic kits can be made to look more realistic with paint, extra detail parts, signs, etc.
Nice work Tomkat, a man after my own heart, love to take cheap plastic kits and make them shine! Nice Grain Elevator too!
