My girlfriend and I found a easy way to make cheap pine trees. You might have heard of it but if not try this. We got some 1/8 x 4’" Wood Dowels from the Hobby Lobby and some air filters for a house, that were a $1 each and make trees out of them. Its like making a layer cake. Big at the bottom and smaller at the top. You can paint them or make them small or large. Give it a try and save some money $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Check this out dude.
BTW, welcome to the forum.
Welcome Robby and your girlfriend, I just joined myself a few days ago…check out some of my input and see what you think, painting, and scenery and here’s another idea for cheap trees. Use the dowels with scrup pads as well, cut the material into rough shapes then play tug of war with the strands. Use the course green pads. I live in the desert, smack in the SW corner of New Mexico and we have quite a number of trees here.
What’s your RR theme…

As Aggro states in his instructions, avoid glue or unwanted paint on the bottom, branchless portion of the ‘trunk’ of the tree. The way I achieve this is to slip the trunk into a drinking straw thus shielding it from unwanted spray, or foam in the latter stages.
Sorry, I never thought to add this earlier.
Have fun & be safe.
Karl.
As far as my railroad theme. Not sure. Im in NC and near a CSX and Norfolk southern line. I was thinking about doing the NC state and haveing one side beach and the other side of my layout the mountains. I just normally go with the flow. Thanks for the info.
