Check out this picture. It's Amtrak in the TOYOTA TUNDRA SPECIAL PAINT SCHEME!

It’s Amtrak in Toyota Tundra Paint, with a red Toyota Tundra pick-up on the side! Amtrak had a deal with Toyota to have two engines painted in this scheme. Amtrak #84 and Amtrak #115 were the two engines painted in this scheme! On the back of the engine, it has “The Powerful Toyota Tundra”. Here is a picture of one of the engines painted in this special Toyota Tundra paint scheme, Amtrak #84.

Thanks for looking!

I caught that very unit in Cajon pass on the Chief a couple weekends back. It’s different, that’s for sure.

Cool. I haven’t seen it since it has been switched back to Phase 5. I caught #115 too. It was almost dark at the time.

I’m sure you have the best of intentions, but this link causes a popup that tries to install spyware.

Any link opened with internet explorer nowadays does spyware. Railpictures just happens to be a real bad site. Switch to Firefox from www.mozilla.com Dont even need a popup blocker.

Toyota???
baaaah

Not true. I guess your Web surfing habits are different. Few sites that I visit do so. I consider such a practice unethical and those that do I never visit again. Personally, if I gave such a link I would give a heads up in addition.

That’s for sure! I already use FF and having popup block on doesn’t prevent a determined Web programmer from displaying child windows.

YES!!! No spyware for months!!!

Have you see the new “full size” Tundra? as far as I know it’s still smaller than the F150…

Anyways, The engine reminds me of some VIA engines I saw on some website. But those were even wierder. One Loco had Kool-Aid man on the nose [:0] Real nice pic though

That’s probably the pop-up that says you have spyware installed on your computer, lol. It’s just an ad, its not harmful.

Tundras are powerful. When did Amtrak start pulling their trains with Toyota trucks? Somehow I think I missed something …

K.P. Harrier, I’d say it was mid November. [:)]

Dont like…this is like painting McDonalds advertisements on the sides of all those cows standing in a field along the side of the road…

Is Amtrak going the way of city buses to raise revenue for the railroad? At least they could have painted an American truck on the sides of these engines.

I’d say it falls somewhere between a CTA bus and all those barns along US 41 that had ads for Rock City or Mail Pouch painted on their roofs.

It’s like the Russians painting Pizza Hut logos on their rockets.

I don’t see anything wrong with being a little creative when trying to figure out a way to get some revenue. Now if it gets to where the engines look like a NASCAR on tracks, it’s gone too far; but one advertisement per loco? It seems to be a win-win to me for all sides involved.

Yuck

They shouldn’t get too carried away, or they may just quit having standard paint schemes.

VIA has been doing this for a while as has pretty much every regional transit system in America.

One of the best looking was the VIA Telus F40PH, in fact it was so good that I’m doing one of the locomotives on my HO scale line in the Telus scheme.

Cheers!

I can’t say that I like this. I’ve seen this one other time as well.

If you’re gonna paint a truck on an Amtrak locomotive, why not use a real man’s truck-a Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5.7 liter HEMI. My Dodge Ram only wishes it had a HEMI in it…I do too.[8D]
