Does anyone know what RR’s passed through/interchanged with the UP at Cheyenne, Wyoming? I’d like to have more than just UP locos on my layout.

Sorry, I forgot to say I was modeling the 1940’s through 1960. Was the BN around then? Or was it still CB&Q?
According to the 1948 Handy Railroad Atlas of the US, UP had lines east, west and south while CB&Q connected southeast to Sterling, NE and the Colorado & Southern connected southwest to Ft. Collins, CO and north through Wheatland to join the CB&Q in Wendover, WY.
In 1957 I stayed in Cheyene at the Hitching Post Motel which was at the west end of the yard. I can still remember being in the swimming pool while a Big Boy started up Sherman. I could feel the consussions from the pistons in the water. The bridge over the west end of the yard was the Colorado and Southern which was a Burlington subsidiary. It swings east on the nroth side of the tracks. They still ran steam in 1957 because I remember seeing a ten drivered engine about ten o clock at night quaitely chuff off the bridge. The Up was still runnng 4-12-0’s and lots of challengers also. I can remember my dad taking us into the roundhouse and the workers couldn’t have been nicer to us. Them were the days!
Did any Santa Fe trains go through Cheyenne?
If ATSF trains went through Cheyenne it would be only because they had to get around a derailment somewhere. Cheyenne is a L_O_N_G way from the ASTF main which would be in New Mexico at that point. Any derailments would probably have resulted in SP or D&RGW running I would think.

The C&S (CB&Q0 passed UP over a bridge on the east side of the UP yard. I would search somthing like "CB&Q in Cheyenne, Wyoming " or somthing like that to see photo of the C&S. “Last of the Giants” Vol. 2 is a great tape that shows up in Cheyenne in the 50’s.
I forgot to mention Pentrex a(www.pentrex.com) makes the tape.
Ify want interchange you have to go to Denver or Kansas City or Omaha or Salt Lake City. Other than that, there isn’t a lot of interchange in Wyoming.

Sure and I don’t men this to be sarcastic. You could have anything you want including fictitious interchanges if you want them with any railroad in the world. the key word was “MY” railroad. Now if you want to stick to the prototype the answer is still yes. You just need to know when the C&S became part of the Q and when the Q became part of BN. My guess is anytime between about 1950 and 1974.
Yes! CB&Q would be at home on your layout. As ndbprr said it your railroad so you could have some engines from other RRs also.
