Chicago CN (IC) Track Ownership ?

CN and Metra both own former IC lines running south from the junction with the St. Charles Air Line at South Wye Jct, 16th Street or Clark Street.

Does CN own any of the track running north to Randolph Street Station, or does Metra own all of it ?

Nanaimo:

My CN employee timetable shows the line begins at 16th street…milepost 1.5

MP173: MP1.5 may be where the DS obligations split, the physical boundaries for land, maintenance, signal and other functions may be elsewhere. (In METRA’s case, it has got so confusing that they have started to remap and re-survey their R/W and misc. holdings cobbled together from all those other predecessor railroads)

Thanks Ed.
I can’t see any freight customers there on Terraserver.

I cant think of anything north of 16th street.

I think that at 16th street the St. Charles Airline comes in from the west. Splits a nice new townhouse/condo developement in two. King Richard Daley doesnt like that. It was one of the things the rails gave up for teh CREATE program. CN would give up the St. Charles line and the city would kick in some $$$.

I think CREATE is dead in the water now.
