AFAIK, the EJ&E was marketed as the Outer Belt. Wouldn’t that be a potential connector between the different railroads radiating to and from Chicago?

Metra has had a proposal for an operation on the EJ&E between Eola and Barrington in the past but it has encountered strong opposition from Barrington since it would contribute to congestion in the Barrington area.
