Interesting with respect to discussions we have had about appealing to certain demographics to boost the ‘take rate’ for passenger rail.
Here is a CNN story that covers the idea and some of the planned implementation. It seems refreshingly clear of the sort of wu-maoism that some here seem anxious to decry.
I do think this sort of plan would be difficult if the network of lines hadn’t already been built and a great many trainsets capable of the necessary ‘modifications’ were not in existence. I do think that we should be watching what parts of this succeed.
Too bad we don’t have a surplus of labor, equipment or routes that freight lines would allow. So apples and oranges.

wu-maoism[/quote]
Not anxious, just tired of having to wade through it everywhere on social media. It’s kind of like having to constantly sort through junk mail (no pun intended).
As for the trains for the elderly, will they have the money to spend?
Interesting because Japan is well into the demographic abyss and it is not spending money for specialized trains. They offer luxury and special experience trains in Japan for those with more disposable income but I don’t recall any train specifically geared to the elderly.

If it’s so tiring for you why bother to read the post and comment, especially when the thread header clearly informs of the content you abhor?
This should be true for other members. If the thread sounds “political” try ignoring it like an adult reader.

I am OK with articles on China…just not recitations of paid social media influencer articles which should be easy for an adult to spot. Because you can Google and see the same pictures and verbage used platform to platform. I think they call that “reposting”. That specific topic off the table. I think there needs to be a rule on reposting here which the staff has not made yet. It would resolve the issue and I might phone that in.
Does reposting include YouTube videos?
If they are on several common Social Media platforms in various feeds as part of a larger promo program, yes. If not then no. Reposting is not a rule yet though, I was only stating an opinion. The TicToc short viral videos would be another example of promo in a lot of cases.
What specifically is so wrong with reposting? Most of us don’t feel offended if something interesting is reposted 10X.
What I consider wrong with ‘reposting’ is when the material is provided with known errors or misstatements, or in order to ‘push’ an agenda outside interest in railroading. If anyone asks for fact-checks or cites, the ‘reposter’ has the responsibility to make (and document) a fair effort to do so, since they accepted it enough to repost in the first place. And not kvetch about it.
Others of course may provide their own facts and citations, provided they are appropriately confirnable or credible…

I think that this is “supposed” to be a friendly forum not a professional or academic one with rigorous attempts at citation, checks for replication, fact-checking, etc.
For example, I think it is safe for most of us to assume Woke’s post from CNN is accurate enough. A post from some bizarre blogger which few ever heard of needs additional confirmation, IMO.
