Cincinnati voters did NOT in March 2002, as reported in the article, nix - for the third year in a row - a proposed light rail line. In fact, on August 20, 2002 a decision was reached by the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Agency (SORTA)to place a light rail funding proposal before Cincinnati voters for the first time (in November, 2002). Believe what the author was actually making reference to was the fact that
Cincinnati was removed from Federal transit funding list for three years in a row because there was no funding mechanism in place for local funding. The jury is still out as to whether Cincinnati voters (actually, Hamilton County voters) will approve a sales tax increase for light rail.
