Cincinnati voters approve measure to renovate Union Terminal
Great news…made my day.
This historic art deco gem is worthy of the effort and expense. That it also hosts Amtrak is a plus.
Great news and they are GREAT Museums, Go if you get the chance.
I gave a talk last week in which I pointed out that the refurbished Denver and St. Paul terminals were the largest Amtrak stations serving only one train. With Cincinnati, I suppose that can be considered as the largest Amtrak station serving 3/7 of a train.
And again, the taxpayers have been duped into spending money on a worthless endeavor. CUT was supposed to be self-sustaining 20 years ago, based on the tenants that the station housed. The only people that this will benefit is the big-money dilberts in charge of the project, collecting their six-figure salaries, on the backs of the American taxpayer.
Thrilled to hear this! CUT is a magnificent, unique and pricelss work of art!
It’s fantastic to hear this. I don’t want Amtrak to build another River Road- type station in that city. it deserves to stop at what was once THE last temple of transportation. Long live CUT!
This is definitely great news for passenger rail history, and the continued development of that area of Cincinnati!
Grateful for the sensible citizens of the state next door!
Good to see the citizens elected to save this terminal. She sure is a beauty and worth saving. Thank you Cincinnati.
The repairs needed on this facility are a bargain compared to having all of the tenants move out and find new locations elsewhere. I’ve enjoyed visiting this old relic, and it’s time to return some of the artwork that went to the airport back to the train station.
Phil, have you ever visited the museums, etc. now housed in this fine facility. This is a fitting use for this historic edifice and should be preserved. My compliments to the citizens of Cincinnati for continuing their support. I hope to visit someday.
I think that CUT is the most beautiful station ever built. I thank the voters for saving it.
