Circuit Breakers/NCE Power Pro

Hi everyone,

I am modeling HO and gotten off to a good start, but need some assistance with an electrical problem. I have divided my layout into 6 districts and want to use 6 circuit breakers. So far I have been able to run the layout fine directly from the NCE Power Pro, 5 amp version. When I implement the circuit breakers, PSX’s, I am able to put one circuit breaker in line and everthing works fine. When I add a second circuit breaker in line, the Power Pro works for a matter of seconds, shuts down, resets and begin the process again. I have tried all 6 circuit breakers individually on the 6 districts and they all work fine, but as soon as I add a second circuit breaker, the NCE shuts down. It does not matter which breaker I add, the result is the same.

I have looked at the manual for the Power Pro and there is something about increasing voltage and I ask if this is what is causing my issue? As long as I don’t go over the recommended 16 volts, are ther any negatives? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff

I am seriously guessing here, but I am thinking you need to check very carefully to ensure that your districts are completely isolated from each other, and that you are not accidentally shorting out the PowerPro when you hook up the second breaker. It feels to me like something isn’t isolated. I don’t think increasing the voltage will help, and I think it is not a good idea besides, especially with a short about.

Or maybe the feeds to oneor more of the districts is reversed? Disconnect power from buss, remove all locos from track and check for continuity.

Check polarity and you have to install isolators between blocks…if all else fails call nce directly…thay are very very good…or Tony’s trains…both excellent in helping us all…rgds Tom

( I have 4 districts and use nce exclusively…with circuit breakers)
