I started in the communications industry back in the 70’s Over the years the one thing I noted with the greater volume of data , information , video and voice that there is a greater chance of widespread failures and the instant spreading of viruses and malicious software that can just completly blow up systems and networks.
Better access to relevant data is a good thing. Random access will just lead to more Newhall type incidents. We humans have very limited bandwidth and new programs have to deal w/ that fact. Case in point, texting while driving. A DOS (Denial of Service) situation caused by data overload.
