City council calls for review of contract with Metrolink operator

I had thought that Veolia was toast in Old Smog Town, but it seems to rise up again like a Hydra. However, to their credit, they seem to do a good job running buses in Denver.

Buss, you mean bus. I doubt anybody wants to ride on a buss, and risk electrocution!

Veloia could sue LA for that. Instead, they should excercise their contractual out clause and then run, not walk away.

Just think if prop 32 passes, ALL bus service in Smell-A and ALL of public transit jobs will be contracted out. Recipe for distaster.

People MUST understand California. The IDIOT that ran the RED signal was knowingly operting a commuter train in violation of workrules. The problem in this hellhole of a State is the unions and those they represent have ALL of the rights, the employers have NONE. I am an employer, I know. I beleive Violia and Metrolink had attempted to place cameras in the cabs of the F59’s to monitor work rules violations and employee behavior. The UNIONS and the employees fought it tooth and nail. In the end, management did NOT want a fight with the unions over this matter. Sadly, had cameras been installed inside the locomotive cabs, this particular employee may not have been operating the locomotive. Hence, the sensless deaths that occured in Chatsworth may not have occured. What this whole thing comes down to is this, when are employees going to be held responsible for their bad decisions that lead to this kind of an end result??? Everyone always wants to blame the employer and NOT take responsability for their knowingly wrong and rule breaking actions?

Veolia must be more interested in profits than safety. Look at who’s running the VRE in Virginia, and another earlier post this week about a contract problem there. Is Veolia trying to squeeze the public? I’ve also noticed they have contracts for trash service, road maintenance, snow plowing, school buses, and other shuttle services involving transportation in other locations around the nation.
