City council tables discussion of Soo Line 4-6-2 No. 2719 move

You have to love city gov’t, if it was a trip to a conference down south they be all over it

Eau Claire might as well leave it at the museum. What’s the city going to do with it? Let it rust?

Duluth wants it. Eau Claire doesn’t. End of story.

Incredible that cities really believe they would every spend the money to restore the locomotive. Hopefully Ken will shake some sense into the city council. (Or just let it go long enough until anyone who every rode behind a steam engine is dead.)

One thing I heard was the city may buy the 2719 then sell it to LSRM for $2, which wouldn’t be a bad idea, the L&TPF sells the locomotive, and then LSRM keeps it for low cost, a win for everyone I think, since the 2719 has the chance to run again someday.
