Many railfans enjoy shortline railroads, I’m no exception. A friend of mine has created a couple of excellent web sites that document some of these shortlines out west. I think some on this list may enjoy visiting Jeff’s web pages. The following is from Jeff:
“I run two websites featuring some mostly timber oriented railroads in the northwest. The “flagship” site is about the railroads of McCloud, CA, including the McCloud River Lumber Company, McCloud River Railroad Company, and McCloud Railway Company. It is located at:”
http://www.trainweb.org/mccloudrails
“After a couple years of thought I launched a new site back in January of this year called High Desert Rails. The purpose of HDR is to feature the railroads that operated in Oregon’s high desert region, east of the Cascades and south of the prairies. It is located at:”
http://www.trainweb.org/highdesertrails
"I just uploaded a new page tonight onto HDR about the City of Prineville Railroad. Direct link to the page is: "
http://www.trainweb.org/highdesertrails/cop.html
"Other railroads featured on this website include the Condon Kinzua & Southern/Kinzua Pine Mills, Union Railroad of Oregon, Oregon & Northwestern/Edward Hines Lumber Company, Malheur Railroad, Oregon Eastern Division of the Wyoming/Colorado, Oregon California & Eastern/Weyerhaeuser Woods Railroad, and Union Pacific. There are still a lot of other roads to be covered as I have time to build and upload the pages. "
"Anyway, I hope that y’all enjoy these two sites. Please give me feedback (positive or negative), and if you have anything that you’d be willing to contribute to the above sites please pass it along. "
"Thanks much.
