Rather odd duel Railroad/ Pedestrian Bridge in Saskatoon is now closed due to Corona virus.

CP Rail Pedestrian bridge Saskatoon winter

A file photo shows the CP Rail Pedestrian Bridge in Saskatoon.

The article states its narrow walkway precludes proper social distancing.

I assume the trains can still operate, but maybe not!

I wish all rail bridges were like that. A bunch of ours don’t have any walkways at all. Makes inspecting a train there real hard!

The CPR Bridge is part of the CP rail line to its Sutherland rail yards. It is unusual for a rail bridge in that it includes a pedestrian walkway, which was added in 1909. It allows users to cross between the west side of the bridge, adjacent to the Meewasin Valley trails, and the east side, near Innovation Place Res

All the sidewalks in my neighborhood do not allow for 6 foot separation.

At least you have sidewalks. Not up here. I don’t remember what they are. Well you better close those sidewalks!!

The CSX bridge acrosss the Shenadoah River at Harpers Ferry has a pedestrian walkway which is separated from the railroad by a fence. I have seen many people walking across the river there.

That walkway was damaged by a derailment several months ago - I don’t know that it has been repaired as of yet.

When I worked for Prairie Oil in Saskatoon back in the early 80s I used to walk across that bridge every day to and from work… wasn’t heavily used back then… never met a train while on it.
