The CPR Bridge is part of the CP rail line to its Sutherland rail yards. It is unusual for a rail bridge in that it includes a pedestrian walkway, which was added in 1909. It allows users to cross between the west side of the bridge, adjacent to the Meewasin Valley trails, and the east side, near Innovation Place Res
The CSX bridge acrosss the Shenadoah River at Harpers Ferry has a pedestrian walkway which is separated from the railroad by a fence. I have seen many people walking across the river there.
When I worked for Prairie Oil in Saskatoon back in the early 80s I used to walk across that bridge every day to and from work… wasn’t heavily used back then… never met a train while on it.
