Class lights

Hi everyone

I am Deaf , I come from NZ

I got 2 Athearn GP38-2 SP like that photo and I try to remove without class light front

Do you know how to remove without class light ?

Thanks ( SP Rule )

Might be a silly question but, why do you want to remove the light? Most of the time people seem to be wanting to add a light to make a loco conform to the SP image. Are the locos SP locos?

You might find that the best solution is to swap you SP locos for someone else’s non-SP locos… You will then both be happy without having to do any carving.

Hope that this helps. [:P]

Do you see without no class lights short hood ( circle ) and other photo first top circle 2nd circle take off class lights that what I talk about

My suggestion would be do drill them out and fill in the holes with body putty.

If I understand your question correctly, the light you are referring to is the one above the two clear-lenses. That was not a classification light, it was a red gyrating light that has been removed from all existing SP engines that were originally equipped with them. I know of no model that had a similar light. If you have one and want to remove it, do what SP did – take the light out and cover the hole with a blanking plate.

He is refering to the circles that are to the left and right of the head and tail lights. That is where the class lights would normally be on the units pictured. I agree, just drill them out and fill the hole in with puddy and piant it over.

You will have to drill them out and add covers made by several companies such as details associates, cannon, and presision scale.Go to walthers .com and do a search.Dan

Thank you dan for helpfully I just found it from walthers.com I might buy new short hood with cast brakewheels and ( DA) blank knockout covers for emd dash 2 series too USA dollar total is 8.20 then double dollar NZ dollar be 16.40 plus air frieght but I don’t know how much be I have to find out how much cost be

Same me too that what I thinking about the way do drill then and fill in the holes with body putty

what size of drill ?

That I do not know. Should be a pretty small bit though…

Anyone? A little help?
