And that’s one of the reasons re-runs and DVD’s of Carson’s “Tonight Show” are still so popular. With no contemporary issues involved the shows are timeless. Carson was a wise showman.

I agree , o scale,s scale ,ho scale, n scale , g scale and real train enthusiast all get along here , we just love trains.

yes he was!

Well, outside of his monologue at least

Well my bother and I did sometimes play well together but only occasionally.

I have three siblings and absolutely no competition for the trains… but on the other hand, I never had any trains passed down to me from family, and all the ones I have were either bought for me, by me, or given to me specifically. Someone would have to be a real stinker to suggest they had a claim on any of em!

I had a childhood friend I used to play trains with, but we changed a lot as we started getting older and more or less went our separate ways. Sometimes I set em up to entertain family though, people usually enjoy watching them run.

I have a brother and sister they do not like trains at all my grandfather did give me his two American flyer trains , I was the only who ever came to his house at Christmas to play with his trains, none of my cousins liked them either.

That they do! At the club’s open house (See my post of several days ago) we had over 100 people stop in for a look. We didn’t see too many frowns, indeed we saw none at all!

My two brothers were significantly older than I am. When they were young, they had the 50th Anniversary ALCOs with the freight set and also a #41 Army switcher. One has since passed, and the other has the ALCO set. I have the #41. He and I put together a duplicate ALCO set for our other brother’s daughters to have and maybe give to their children (only one has a child, so far).

I run the #41 on occasion–took some time to fiddle with it this past Christmas. The E-unit needs to be fixed as the pivot rivet for the lock-out lever is loose. That’s not a job I want to tackle: I need to find a service station within reasonable distance; i.e., say, St, Louis area.

My sons have their own trains and will get mine someday, including the Marx set I got when ! was 1 and my first Lionel I got when I was 7. They’ll also get the Marx set I bought for my mom a few years before she passed because she missed not having trains under the tree after I mover out. And they’ll get my wife’s On30 trains.

No need to worry about the disposition of the trains in our family–they are an on-going hobby!

Yeah, it’s all very interesting who likes model trains and who doesn’t, inside and outside of families. My younger brother initially “inherited” my American Flyer stuff when I went off to college. He liked those trains too much. I think he was doing demolition derbies with the locomotives. When I finally got them back, I had to make a ton of repairs. My kids and grandkids have no interest in model trains, but two of my brothers-in law do.
