Classic Trains Newsletter

Today I received this newsletter as I subscribed to it …as well as subscribing to this excellent magazine and GR .

The newsletter was an advertising a subscription offer…no news.

The same applies for Garden Railways advertising as a so called newsletter.

To go to the CTT forum I go through no less than three advertising pop ups.The rest I have not made a formal count. This recent trend of very aggressive advertising aimed at subscribers is nuisance. Not the end of the world or due for an extended rant…but it is a nuisance.

One final observation as a subscriber…how about updating the advertised “extras” more than once a month? For me personally they are not much of an extra. The extra is some cases is an article I already read in hard copy as a subscriber so how does this count as an extra?

I wonder: it is believed that most subscribers throw their magazines away after reading and later wish that they had saved this or that–and so some of this and that is offered as an “extra?”

Recognize it for what it is: Kalmbach’s continuous beating about the head to get you to renew you subscription-regardless of how much time you have on your present subscription.

Second helpings by way of leftovers do not qualify as extras to me.

Nor do advertisements posing as newsletters

If the point is to irritate existing subscribers, the point is well taken.

Sometimes its humorous. I went to respond to your comment and was blocked by a pop up. LOL

Again this is more of a nuisance on line that has nothing to do with the high quality of the publications of CT and GR.

A nuisance can become irritating after seeing the same ad over and over again blocking one’s way. If I did not buy such and such the first time why would I buy it the fifteenth time?

A software adjustment would be appreciated for subscribers.

I do not contribute to forums here or at GR because you have to get through the ad defense shield every single time. And then get the same ads in the mail? What is this? Desperation?

Hello advertising department…

I visit these sites less and less. These nuisances have a lot to do with that.
