I have a K&S brass sheet that is basically dirty- dried fingermarks, etc- how do I clean it? I already tried 91 alcohol and thinner, but no joy. Any suggestions? Cedarwoodron
Get yourself, a can of Brasso, soft cotton cloth, spread around, with cloth, until it shines, rinse with warm water, wipe dry. Brand new looking!

Haven’t thought of Brasso since active duty, 40 years ago- but we already had clear-coated laquered metal insignia or satin black by then. The brasso was for the shower drains in boot camp!LOL! Thanks, Cedarwoodron
My experience with Brasso is that once you use it, you start to look around the house for door knobs and other stuff made of brass so you can use it on that too.
It probably should be pointed out that except for some of the early imports, most brass locomotives were in fact painted in a brass color to give them that uniform look (and to cover bits of solder), so brasso won’t work on most brass engines and other rolling stock, again except for some of the very early stuff where you can actually see and feel the tarnish.
