Unless you’re somewhere near the Urbana, Illinois area, you’ll probably want to skip the rest of this message and my apologies for taking up bandwidth. However, like all good public events this one is about networking and I wanted those interested to be aware of it.
Rio Grande and narrow gauge modelers are somewhat uncommon in this part of the country. I have an operational home layout that includes both HOn3 and dual gauge track based on the Rio Grande. Stop by the show to say hello if you’re in the area.
We conceived of this show as the fall counterpart to the long-running spring Lincoln Square model railroad show, which is well into its third decade. Perhaps our timing could be a bit better, since it is on the same weekend as the Naperville show, but it does nicely compliment the Sunday show at Interstate Center in Bloomington-Normal.
Since this is the first year for this show, we welcome your suggestions, as well as your participation. In the future, this event could include model contests, layout visits, and broader participation by vendors.
We’d planned on coming up for the clinics and meet, but then the CFO remember we had a wedding to go too. So, maybe next year.
Hope you have a good turn out

It wasn’t the huge crowds of the April Lincoln Square show, but I think we achived our goal of a complimentary activity that allowed local modelers to exchange information, get to know each other, and advance the status of the hobby.
We look forward to next fall’s clinic day. Anyone with ideas is invited to help us begin planning this and other activities to build the art and craft of model railroading. Please contact us at: http://www.illinoisterminaldivision.org/
