Resolved - The crossover has two holes under the track that expose the Frogs. I soldered one output of the dual frog juicer to each of the two frogs and its working perfectly
Simple question looking for simple answer
i have a Bachmann EZ Track Crossover with metal frogs im running short steam engines 0-6-0 and 2-6-2 that stop everytime the tender hits the frog NOT a short a loss of power
there are wires in the back that I believe are to power the Frogs. I bought a Dual Frog Juicer. i have wired the inputs to the juicer from the power buss and connected the juicer outputs to the frog wire. Lights indicate its working. The lights reverse when tendor hits the frog, but often the train still losses power. Am I missing something. I cant even tell the frog has power when I pit a meter on rail and frog
To make it easier on yourself to test track you can use a 14 volt bulb. Miniatronics has a package of five or ten for only a few bucks. Years ago I took a plastic freight car truck, put metal wheels on it. Made some phosphor bronze pickups and soldered the bulb leads to them. Works great for power loss situations.
Another place that is common for power loss is closure rails. Make sure the movable rail is clean where it contacts the stock rail.
I am not familiar with easy track, however, with some of my Walthers TOs, I have had to file down the plastic on the bottom of the groove where the flange of the wheel goes as it would lift the wheel just enough to lose contact with the rail.
