Reference has been made here on the forum about the drip rate setting on the CMX track cleaning car. For the life of me, I cannot see the drops. Where do I look? Or better still, how can I set it up to clean properly using isopropyl alcohol?
Center of the clean pad, under the middle of the car. Directly under the flow valve screw. Set it to where it drops only a few times per minute. Just needs to be damp.
If you have trouble seeing the drops, which I can only imagine, is the case with combining vision issues with clear liwuids, set it at your workbench. Let it go for a few minutes and feel the pad, it should just be slightly damp. If it is saturated feeling, it’s open too far. If it feels completely dry, it’s not open enough and the alcohol is evaporating faster than it drips out. And in true Monty Python fashion, if there is a puddle under the car, that’s right out. Way too far open. Once you have the proper setting verified, mark a line with a dab of paint so you know where to set the valve next time when you open it back up to use the car. Now you can close it down, refill the tank, put the car on the rails, and easily see where to open the valve for best results.

In addition to what Randy said, I find it works well to hold the car up in front of a light source and adjust the drip. That way the pad is hanging ever so slightly lower and you can just see the end of the drip port. Seems like a half to three-quarters of a turn open is plenty.
More often than not, I forget to close the valve and the next time I go to use it, the tank is bone-dry.
They say to loosen the filler cap but I don’t think the fat O ring actually covers much of the air bleed hole so maybe just a slight twist open is enough.
Mine usually drips, like Ricky says, maybe 5-10 drips a minute.
Good Luck, Ed
Thanks guys. Randys trick worked very well. I now have the valve marked. 3/4 turn seems about right.
On the old CMX machines the drip tube was longer than the newer ones so when sitting on the track you could not see the drips. I had to adjust mine off track to set it right.
Soak the pad first…then set the drip rate to one drop every 4 to 5 seconds.
