I looked yesterday at the Stewart site but didn’t see the hopper which you described, but there are some there today. [banghead] Some roads, but not CN as far as I know, used those end extensions to supposedly increase the car’s capacity. They may have other names, but I’ve only seen them referred to as “heap shields”.
