CN & CPR

HI All,

This not really a discussion topic, just for general information.

I must say how impressed I am with the customer relations of both Canadian Pacific and Canadian National. Why? I e-mailed both railways regarding possible places to view on an imminent trip to BC, not really expecting much of a response. I was wrong.

BOTH companies took the time to reply in detail to me telling em frequency of trains, likely composition, frieght carried, etc. One even invited my wife and I for a visit to their headquarters, which unfortunately we were unable to accept. Instead, we received through the post maps, histories and other information on their railway.

I am fuly aware that there is no possible way that I would be able to place business their way - I am not a shipper, I am not even on the same continent! However, these gentlemen took time out of their busy days to talk to a railfan who wanted to take photographs.

A big thank you to both Canadian National and Canadian Pacific

The Canadian’s run a class act I was very impressed with the CP’s traveling exhibit car at the Steamtown Expo in Scranton, Pa. The CP is very well liked in Northeast, Pennsylvania, where they helped resurrect and run the Delaware and Hudson.
I rode on the Canadian National in Ontario and was very impressed with the cleanliness of the yards, shops and right of way even in a large city like Toronto.
A week later I rode a train between Philadelphia and Trenton USA and was very embarassed with the surroundings and yards. What a difference!!!At least the track was well maintained.

A number of years ago I lived in Toronto and was very impressed with the cleanliness of the whole place. The first time I rode the subway I though I was in a department store it was so clean. But there was also something vaguely not right about it; I was uncomfortable.

One weekend I took the train home to Providence. Eating a hotdog in Boston’s South Station everything felt just so right and the way it should be. Looking around I realized what it was. Unlike the Toronto station South Station was absolutely filthy. What I missed was the dirtiness of the U.S.

You waited 12 years, 3 months, 4 days, 7 hours, and 30 minutes to reply to this? [:)][wow]

John may not have been a member back then and just recently came across the thread. Every so often some one else does the same thing, sees a long dormant thread and makes a comment. Some times it might get it going again for a while, mostly it just drops back into obscurity.

On the other hand, had John just made the comment in a new thread, some one else would probably chime in, “We discussed that topic 12 years, 3 months, 4 days, 7 hours and 30 minutes ago.” Especially if the new thread asked a question on a topic that the previous thread covered.

Jeff

I guess there’s always the possibility that the OP had marked the box that says “e-mail me if someone replies to this thread”. [(-D]

Did you count all the leap years?

Leap Years automatically count themselves - unless you are counting the number of days…
