When is CN going to recieve its ES44DCs? Where and when will they go into service?
I saw a post on here in the spring about them placing their first order.
Not sure about the first part, but I am sure they will put them aminly into service on US lines, bt with a few on service in Canada. Just a thought, don’t rely on me.
I think they’re due in the first quarter of 2006.
If past CN practice with new locomotive types is any indication, the first batch will get tried out systemwide to confirm tonnage ratings in the different regions, so you’ll get a chance to see them basically anywhere in the system for a while. Once that’s done, the whole batch will likely get assigned to one shop for servicing so that expertise in servicing them can be developed. As subsequent orders arrive and shop forces get cross-trained on them, the units will start being spread more widely in the CN network.
I have no idea as to where they’re to be initially based.
