Goodbye EJ&E. Thanks for the memories. (Baldwin center cabs).
Goodbye to the good, old EJ&E is correct. I have been watching the slow, orange equipment for 50 years. Best wishes to the owners, employees and customers. But… start off on the right foot with a CN “EJ&E heritage” loco.
And so CN continues consolidating resources for further efficiency. CP’s new leadership better get with the program if they wish to remain competitive.
I had to read that twice to follow the circuitous manner in which companies and holding companies are going to merge and be renamed…
Heck, I was just glad to hear that my favorite railroad, Wisconsin Central, still exists, albeit on paper. I thought it was long gone.
It may be today’s economy that benefits CN by merging all these railroads in a timely manner. But,… being from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin,… I do miss the sharply painted SD45’s Wisconsin Central had as they rumbled through this city. Sad that Elgin, Joliet & Eastern’s memorable paint scheme may now be religated to history books as well.
I will miss every railroad that the CN is gobbling up. It is just another UP. Best of luck WC, IC and EJ&E employees.

I miss the GT scheme around Detroit and hated to see IC gobbled up as CN was ditching individual schemes. I understand the operating efficiencies, though, so some heritage equipment would be nice.
