I want to know what those 7 engines are.
This is truely sad. I give all my best to the families involved here. On another matter I do wonder how the head on collision occured?? It might be interesting to find out what the NTSB has to say about this one.
For real. God i hope no WC’s or GT’s [:D]

Also check out this news broadcast for video of the scene.

At approximately 0415hrs CDT on Sunday July 10th, CN trains M33491-08 and G86971-09 were involved in a derailment at Anding MS, approximately 30 miles north of Jackson MS. The incident, which occurred on the Yazoo subdivision of the CN main line, is currently affecting trains running between Memphis TN and Jackson MS.
-
CN officials have responded to the site and will provide an estimated track passable time later today. In order to minimize delays to customer shipments, we have begun to detour a portion of the affected traffic over the Grenada subdivision of the CN main line, which runs parallel to the Yazoo subdivision. Customers should expect that shipments scheduled to move through the affected area may be delayed by as much as 12 hours.
We will post further details on this web page as soon as they become available.
Please don’t hesitate to contact your Customer Support Representative or to use your regular channels to obtain more detailed information on specific shipments.

my condolances to the familes.

Looks like a BNSF DASH9 was involved…CN WILL PAY!!!
The guy on that video said they have had a lot of problems on that track over the years wich isn’t very suprising for CN.In my area the tracks aren’t welded together like most class 1 tracks and they still travel at 50 mph. There is a yard in where I live and they had an accident in it about 5 years ago.The yard is so old,the tracks are ancient and there is very few cars at a time in it.Life would be better without CN.[:(!][V]
WC WOULD RUN THE RAILROAD BETTER, Thats for sure Joe. But im glad a BNSF toaster got burnt, not that you can really be happy about anything there, but im glad to see a GE burnt!
Alec
Now that I think of it ,that DASH9 will probably be repaired and painted into H3 since it’s pretty burnt and damaged.
My sympathy to the families of the crews involved.
It will be some time before the details of ‘why’ are known – if ever; sometimes these things are inexplicable. However, I am saddened by the gratuitous attacks of two of our posters above on CN. In specific response to Joegreen, jointed rail is not inherently unsafe, nor a sign of poor railroading, nor does it necessarily require a different speed limit.
ANOTHER Head ON collision near Jackson, MS less than two weeks after the KCS head on. What is going on down there???

What the hell!
Four guys are dead, and Alec is worring about wether they hurt his favorite locomoitve?
Get real…people are dead!
Screw the locomotive…
Ed
Surely CN CTCed there; did they? If I am not mistaken, CN has already put up the cash for the signal system for their mainlines.
O my god Ed. If you ever go over to Train-Sim you would no(any you should anyways) that I ALWAYS THINK OF THE CREW. It was a side statement ok, i have a lot of Engineer friends, train masters, conductors that work for CN. I would be at a HUGE loss if i didnt have them. For god sake, dont attack every person that you see slip something in.
Alec
The Canadian Trackside Guide says this line is CTC with a 8,910 foot sidind at Anding. One of the trains should have stopped there. I wonder if the time (4:15 am) was involved ?
Thanks, but no thanks, Alec.
I dont have to go to some simulation…I work with the real stuff…
Dead where I work means someones wife gets a surprise vist from a traimaster, and you dont get to hit reset…ever.
Ed
My heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the family and friends.
Sorry for any injuries or deaths in any of these incidents
Ed, what i meant was that i posted the topic there too. Dont treat me like a little child here, ive ran engines before, definately not saying i know everything, ya right, but i know the basics. And dont think i dont know the tragedy of life. Sorry if this is rude.
