The Linn County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a derailment occurred on Red School Road north of Central City.

The Canadian National train derailed around 3:45 p.m. and was reported to authorities at 4:15 p.m. As of late Thursday night, the wreckage was still blocking Red School Road.

11 cars derailed in a rural area. No hazmat was spilled. Not much more will probably be said in the press.

Know that line well; sounds like it was (fortunately) south of the Highway 13 crossing. Wonder how long it’ll take to get that mess cleaned up?

Supposedly will be open sometime today- KCRG’s 10 PM news story last night was somewhat confusing, as they thought the train had three engines that were involved in the derailment, but from my first-hand observations, they’ve been running down and back daily with just one six-axle unit.
