CN mechanical reefer

I’ve got a few microscale decal (set 87-234) for freight cars. Some of them have Wet noodle in blue wit mechanical temperature control. The problem is that I always say these in black on yellow or aluminium color steel reefers. Is it an error from microscale or such blue lettering existed? BTW, the cars are from the 235 000 serie (which should be black). Well, I’m a lost and would like to knwo if these mechanical reefers survived in the 80’s.

Thanks for any clues.

Here is a link to a real photo of a CN Mech Refrig. it was built in 3-69. It should have lasted at least 25 years before being overhauled.

This photo was listed as having been taken in 1986.

This is the decal set. The blue color is supposed to be on the door of the Mechanical Refrigerator Car.

Greetings everyone,

It has been brought to my attention that the images from the Fallen Flags web site are copyrighted. According to the copyright section on the home page, “Reposting or other use REQUIRES permission from the owner of the image or data.” (See link above for details.)

To be honest, this came as a bit of a surprise to me. I thought as long as the poster wasn’t taking credit for the actual image, everything was copacetic. However, we must abide by the copyright statement as outlined and written on the Fallen Flags web site.

With that being the case, although posting the links to the pictures is fine, I’ve had to remove the photos. Thank you for your understanding in the matter.

Regards,

Tom

It looks like the key to making the finished CN Mechanical Refrigerator look realistic is to weather the car with powdered pigments or airbrushed paints.
