CN merging with Egyptian Railways

Just Kidding! [:P]

But seriously look at this:

Nah. Those engines look way too nice to be anything CN.

Tut-tut! I’m in a state of de-Nile about this. If you were to peer amid the other Egyptian locomotives, would they all be painted like this?

(groan)

Maybe they all “Contracted” the Nile Virus and got colored that way.

I was thinking of Cairo Illinois, though CN already has trackage through there:)

My mummy told me that would happen.

Double groan…or is it [sigh][sigh]

Suspect that is the last time they will have snow on them in their lives.

It seems designers are getting closer to the ultimate diesel locomotive configuration, that being the exact replica of a lone gym locker on it’s side and a motor inside, some of the recent designs are getting close to gym locker shape, hopefully soon we will see the complete, shapeless, boring sight of a new generation of diesel locomotives, where are the designers of these monstrosities???

May I suggest they just install motors and generators in a boxcar and saw a window in the end. (wait, I think this has already been done)

Decades ago Rock Island had the AB6, which was built in 1940 by EMD with a 1,000hp 12-567. It looked like a cross between an E-unit and a doodlebug.

The good citizens of Barrington, IL have voiced their complaint about this merger and are presently trying to locate where the Egytian Railway goes through Barrington.

Good April Fool joke.

The puns though were good groaners.

And don’t forget the incredibly ugly commuter locomotives that C&NW had rebuilt from ‘B’ units.

I posted a reply about new loco looks a few months back,in it I stated that the locos being blt nowadays all look like robots,no character or design at all, rather indescript…I wonder if the mfgs are doing this purposely?

The Chinese EMD JT56ACe and GE Gevo locos pictured in the latest issue of trains have flat-nose cabs too. Grade crossing accidents must not be much of an issue on overeas railways. I wonder where they put the toilet on these locos? On most American diesels it’s in the nose.

I got the joke but what I want to know is, what are the metal grates on the windshield for? Do you think they take them off after delivery or is this required over there?

Speaking of ugly, I still find the AEM-7 patently offensive.
