I was looking at an Athearn F7 a-b set today but was disappointed by what looked to be too much black and too little red over the nose of the unit. As I am in Australia, I can only go on photos I have taken (few…) and book photos (remarkably even fewer…) as well as memories to go on.
Is the nose and number etc true of the “original” zebra strip or am I right feeling disappointed in the "translation’? I have use pictures to get I think better results than these but you be the judge of that on www.xdford.digitalzones.com
I would look at, and inquire, at CN Lines. They appear to have the market cornered on CN historical data. They mention an “excellent” article in one of their past club magazines CNLines that focuses on the F-units, issue V9N2. Probably has lots of good pictures.
Thanks… will follow through the links offered. I was actually referring to the Zebra stripes units recently released, not the Genesis units.
BTW are the motors in the Chinese assembled units any lower in current drawing/ run slower etc than their US made counterparts? Just interested as even the newer Athearn motors in SD 40’s etc would cook my transistors a bit!
