Did CN ever paint these FA-1’s in the black and white sargeant strip paint scheme? The only one I can find a picture of is #9400 and its in the green and yellow paint.
The CN FA-1 units (9400 - 9407) were built in 1950 and all were retired by 1968. The paint scheme you mention was introduced in 1961 with the CN “noodle” so there were several years of overlap. “Rail Canada - Volume 1” by Donald C. Lewis shows a drawing for unit 9406 in this scheme, but no photos are provided. I would assume at least some FA-1’s received this paint scheme before being put out to pasture.
I found these FPA-1 pictures with a livery similar to what your looking for I think this guy took these pics in the '70s Hope it helps you! Let me know if your looking for any other different CN paint schemes I’ve hunted down quite a few!
