The only former railroads under the CN banner that would seriously qualify for Heritage Units are Central Vermont, Duluth, Winnipeg & Pacific, and Gulf, Mobile & Ohio.
What heritage? Canadian or American ? ? Remember Canadian National Railway was a Government of Canada run institution for years( a little bit of good old Canadian socialism) so what heritage would these locomotives represent? Oh, do you mean not CN but one of the American owned railroads CN bought, that makes sense. Interesting to find out if CN is a good corporate citizen eh?
It was bought up by Illinois Central in the 70’s I think. That was when they changed their name to Illinois Central Gulf, CN from downtown Chicago to Joliet is old GM&O trackage. It didn’t work out too well and a bunch of the lines were sold off, eventually producing Gateway Western and teh SP line north from St. Louis.
I really have not been exicited on hertitage eng painting. What UP did was mainly to protect their company logos and in my opinion has become very overated. Shippers are doing business with UP, BNSF, NS and so forth–not MP, MKT, CNW, WAB, GN, Frisco and so on.
Those Union Pacific heritage units are awesome! I have yet to see one in person though. I am glad that they at least did something. (better than no heritage units) CN should paint some classic Grand Trunk heritage engine. (even though there are still many GTW engines around) The GT is my favorite railroad, and that would be awesome to see CN make a GT heritage unit! It’s too bad that CN painted the two green/gold E-units into the newer red/black. I am glad that they still have the four E’s, two painted for Illinois Central!
I’m trying to say "Here is a railroad that owes us some Heritage Units…Canadian National. and then I am simply asking if you think any user is under 21.
CP was talking about having heritage units back in the 1990s. One was supposed to be D&H, but it seems they only have heritage locomotives with the old CPR scheme around.
To answer part of your question, this has been brought up many times and there are people of all ages here. Anyone under 21 I would leave to their discretion if they wish to disclose who they are. And for my next question…is that new guy really gonna use the name “Poop”?
CN should do heritage units, and they should be Grand Trunk Railroad- Canadian Northern Railway- National Transontinental Railway and Intercolonial Railways. Of course these engines were mostly steam engines in black and some electric engines, also in black. But it’s the real CN heritage. hehehe
I like the idea of CPR doing a D&H- a MILW- a SOO and a TH&B as heritage units, but paint them as they were as close to possible even if it is on new big units.
