i need some help on the assingmnet numbers for CN traisn that go through wisconsin. for ex
416 push/pull stevens point to green bay & back
U700 rock job sussex wi to grayslake Il
i would like to have them so when i hear the dispatchers on the scanner i know where the trains goin. specificaly i would like Point to neenah , neenah to NFDL, Point to NFDL, NFDl to chicago, Point to Superior, point to twin cities, point to rapids.
I’d love to have the same as well. Back in the good old days (pre-CN) I had most of the WC symbols memorized, but the CN nomenclature doesn’t click for me.
Seems like Trains Illustrated had an article a year or so ago w/ these. Maybe you could get a back issue online.
Alright I know a few but not all. These are some of the trains through Stevens Point where I live.
Some local trains include: 403/404 SP - Superior. 405/406 SP - Minneapolis. 407/408 Wausau - FDL. 409/410 (I think) Wisconsin Rapids - FDL. 522 (I think) push/pull to Neenah from SP. I can’t think of any more local trains right now. There is no SP to FDL train.
Some CN “Core” trains include: 340, 342, 346, 357, 343, 118, 119. These trains run from points in Canada to the South. I never really knew where from. The symbols have changed a little bit. I used to see a 341 but I think it is gone now. 118/119 are the intermodals but rarely are solid intermodal. 357 I think comes from Detroit or somewhere else in Michigan because it normally has a lot of autos. Extras run VERY often. Potash, Grain and unit sulphur trains are usually in the 500s, 600s and 700s. All these trains are rarely BELOW 10,000 ft!
522 isn’t a push/pull. They pull into the “A” yard at point and dump off their inbound train, pull up into the junk yard for a while as they get their paper work and bs a little inside the yard office, then head back down to get on their outbound train in the “B” yard. 415/416 is the only push/pull. Point to WR and return is the Plover Patrol L592. Point to Weyawega and return L574. Wausau to Point and return L589. Wausau to Prentice L599. Prentice to Wausau L598. Waupaca foundry switch 208, still called 20. M357 is the Battle Creek to Prince George train.
Did you recently film on this line BigE? In Stevens Point? That is a heck of a lot of info. I just asked my dad who is still an engineer on the line and got some more info out of him. Q118/119 runs from Vancouver to Chicago. All the other Core trains come from Winnipeg to points south.
