CN welcomes expansion plan for Prince Rupert container terminal

The good people of Canada in general and Prince Rupert in particular should send a thank you note to the longshoremen’s union locals in California for making this investment and increase in jobs possible for them.

Agree Dennis, give it some more time and you will see plenty of thank you’s coming from south of the border also.

I don’t agree, Dennis. This expansion has been in the works for some time and would have happened with or without the longshoremen’s union in California exercising their legal rights.

I agree with David.
A TEU box of disdain for Tim and Dennis. Included therein is a globe of the world and a tape measure, the fabric dressmaker’s type.
Plant the beginning of the tape on a major Pacific coastal Asian container shipping port.
Now measure and record from the tape the distance to the Panama Canal a Mexican Pacific port, and the harbors of San Diego, LA’ San Pedro-Long Beach, San Francisco Bay’s Oakland Estuary, Portland on the Columbia, Seattle-Tacoma, Vancouver BC,
and finally Prince Rupert, a deep-water harbor some what shielded from Pacific storms.
Take your noted distances… Which port is closest to Asia?
Get the amount of days to make any one of those voyages.& cut the representative distance line into that many equal parts; a segment should be a container ship’s daily sailing distance. overlay that segment length on the courses to the other ports.
Now, Tim and Dennis, you know why ILWU ops had little to do with expanding Prince Rupert"s Terminal.
