What was the color of the original CNJ 1000 Boxcab diesel engine? I have seen it in the B&O museum, but I cannot match it for my model, using both an Atlas CNJ S-1 and a Reading S-1 switcher . I have tried Polly Scale Dark Green (too light) and Pullman Green ( still not dark enough), but may have to mix my own. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am not a good color master.
There is an effort by the PRR historical society to not call the green paint Brunswick green but call it Dark Green Locomotive Enamel or DGLE. As I recall CNJ was a gray green on the order of Pullman green. You might see if there is a CNJ historical society to ask for help.
Sea foam green is a lighter tone than austerity green. Austerity green is much closer to DGLE. I have been told by CNJ guys they are the same color. Not sure how true that is but they sure do look like it. As far as I know, nobody makes it in acrylic Vallejo or mig ammo might be your best bet for the closest match in thier military ranges. Which are extensive. One of the German panzer camo greens might be very close.
